BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A 22-year-old Birmingham man was shot and killed overnight.
D’Anthony Dejuan Jones was injured in a shooting on the 2100 block of Ave I Ensley around 1:00 a.m. Tuesday. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said Jones was taken to UAB Hospital for treatment where he later died at 1:39 a.m.

Preliminary investigation suggests the victim and a friend were in the 2100 block of Avenue I, Ensley when the shooting occurred around 1 a.m. The victim was a passenger inside the vehicle when an unknown suspect fired multiple shots into the vehicle, fatally wounding the victim and left the scene in a vehicle. The second occupant was not injured. Authorities believe the victim was targeted.
There is no one in custody. Anyone with information can contact BPD at 205-254-1764.
