After Boise moved to shut down airport hotels, one remains open, other tied up in legal limbo

The City of Boise’s move to shutter two hotels on Boise Airport property wasn’t an open-and-shut case. In mid-February, Boise gave the Airport Inn and Rodeway Inn notices to vacate city property with the threat of eviction over concerns about illegal drug activity, a spike in police and EMS calls to the area and what the city claimed were ‘several discrepancies’ in their business practices. The two hotels, both privately owned and operated by different owners, were the only hotels in the area on city property, which gave the city more power than it would normally have over the operations of a private business.
