Former Birmingham Stallions linebacker signs with Pittsburgh Steelers

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A former Birmingham Stallions linebacker is moving to another Steel City.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Tuesday they signed Kyahva Tezino. The former San Diego State student-athlete started in eight of the 10 regular-season games for the Stallions in 2024.

Tezino led the franchise with 70 tackles, with 38 of them solo. The Los Angeles native’s best outing of the season came against the Memphis Showboats when recorded 10 tackles. When Tezino faced the Michigan Panthers in the USFL Conference Championship Game, he notched six solo tackles.

Former Olympian joins Alabama’s swimming and diving coaching staff

The 27-year-old linebacker agreed to terms with the New England Patriots after 2020 NFL Draft. He was with the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad and also signed with the San Francisco 49ers. It is not Tezino’s first time in western Pennsylvania, as he played for the Pittsburgh Maulers of the Unites States Football League in 2022-23. He has not competed in an official NFL contest.
