UPS workers picket in McKinney calling for air-conditioned trucks

MCKINNEY (1080 KRLD)- A UPS teamsters union is picketing in McKinney…calling for air-conditioned trucks after a scary encounter with one of their colleagues.

They say a driver on 121 had heat exhaustion while on a trip from Longview to McKinney on Friday. The Union says the driver called in and said he was feeling heat-related symptoms but was still told to keep driving.

UPS says it cares deeply about workers’ safety and well-being, and they’re working with authorities to investigate. But teamsters say they’re picketing because UPS has not followed through on their contract, which included the addition of air-conditioned trucks.

They say three people have had heat-related illnesses in McKinney this summer.
