Convicted Scott Peterson Reveals Theory About Wife’s Murder 20 Years Later

Scott Peterson , who is currently serving a life sentence without parole in relation to the 2004 murder of his wife, Laci , and their unborn son, revealed a theory on her death in an effort to clear his name.

Peterson, 49, spoke publicly for the first time in 20 years during Peacock ‘s new documentary Face to Face with Scott Peterson , denying that he killed his family and instead suggesting that a “burglary” in their Modesto, California, neighborhood led to his eight-month pregnant wife’s disappearance.

“There was a burglary across the street from our home,” Peterson said during an interview conducted inside the Mule Creek State Prison via E! News . “And I believe that Laci went over there to see what was going on, and that’s when she was taken.”

An earlier preview of the Peacock docuseries showed Peterson claiming he made a “terrible mistake” by having an extramarital affair with massage therapist Amber Frey .

“It’s horrible. I was a total a**hole to be having sex outside our marriage,” Peterson said via PEOPLE .
