The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has forecast another couple of days of monsoon activity for northwestern Arizona, with moisture from the Gulf of California continuing to spread northward through the Colorado River Valley. Dew points have reached the low 60s as far north as Laughlin, indicating increasing moisture that could result in isolated storms and localized flash flooding this afternoon, particularly in southern Mohave and far eastern San Bernardino Counties.
Thunderstorms are expected to be most impactful in Mohave County through Thursday, as moisture from the Gulf of California persists. The storms could bring heavy downpours, especially from Colorado City to Pipe Spring National Monument. A trough of low pressure will begin drying out the region on Friday, leading to cooler, below-average temperatures through the weekend.
In addition to the cooling trend, gusty southwest winds are expected Thursday and Friday afternoons, increasing fire danger across the southern Great Basin. Temperatures are anticipated to rebound above seasonal averages next week.
