The 2024 New York State Fair’s opening day concerts leaned heavy on the nostalgia. That’s not a bad thing. Chubby Checker, the iconic voice of 1960s hits “The Twist,” “Let’s Twist Again,” and “Limbo Rock,” kicked things off this year’s free music lineup with a 1 p.m. performance at Chevy Court. Checker has played the NYS Fair many times before and always brings a great energy, though the day was marred by rainy weather that limited Wednesday’s crowds.
