Good Samaritan suffers life-threatening injuries while intervening in fight on Knudsen Drive: Bakersfield PD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A woman was struck by a vehicle and sustained life-threatening injuries early Thursday morning while attempting to intervene in a fight on Knudsen Drive, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to the 5500 block of Knudsen Drive at 4:41 a.m., in response to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision. Officers found a woman in the roadway, suffering from severe injuries.

Investigators said multiple people were involved in a physical altercation in the roadway. The good Samaritan had stopped her vehicle and exited to intervene in the fight when she was struck by a passing vehicle.

The driver fled the scene but later contacted police to report her involvement. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where she remains in critical condition.
