Conway flooding slowly starting to recede

CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) — The flooding in downtown Conway near the Riverwalk is finally starting to slowly recede.

One couple has noticed the water increase throughout the past few weeks where they dock their boat at the Kingston Pointe Marina.

They said they feel horrible for all of the people who have been badly affected by the severe flooding, such as those needing to use kayaks and small boats to get to and from their house. They hope those families can get back to normalcy soon.

A police officer said the water receded a few inches overnight near Waccamaw Drive. He said a lot of the residents there have been rowing their boats to their parked cars early in the morning and trying to get back to their regular routines.

Some residents with four-wheel drive have found ways to get back on the road despite the flooding.

A lot of the families have dealt with flooding multiple times now and said at this point, they just need to wait for the water to recede in order to see how much damage has been done.
