‘Unacceptable’: Abandoned, malnourished dog found with urine burns in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A dog found abandoned and malnourished in someone’s yard is now receiving the care he deserves.

On Thursday, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay took in 1-year-old Korey, who they said spent the majority of his life trapped in a small wire crate.

Being stuck in the crate left the pup with “painful urine burns” on his paw pads, severe muscle atrophy, and extreme malnutrition, the Humane Society said.

Korey was rushed to the animal shelter for urgent medical care, where the staff provided him with food, water, medicine, and a bath.

The shelter is searching for Korey’s owners so that they can contact the right people to press charges.

“Korey’s life has known nothing but pain and suffering, and that is unacceptable,” the humane society said.

WFLA.com has reached out to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay who said he has a long road to recovery and will not be available for adoption until he’s healthier.
