Man scratches off $3.7M after buying ticket at this Longmont store

DENVER ( KDVR ) — When purchasing a Powerball or Mega Millions ticket, you do so with the hope of winning the massive jackpot, which can be over $1 billion at times. But imagine winning millions of dollars off of just a scratch ticket.

Scratchers can be a good introduction to the lottery with tickets costing $1 to $50. The games are interactive as the player has to scratch off a layer of the card to see if a series of numbers or symbols leads to a prize.

Colorado Lottery jackpot hit again, third winner in less than 3 weeks

One Colorado Lottery player scratched off the prize of a lifetime when he won over $3 million on a single ticket.

On Tuesday, the state lottery said Miguel N. from Berthoud made a huge profit after winning the $3,665,272 top prize on his $50 Set for Life scratch ticket. Miguel purchased the lucky scratcher at the G&R Food Mart at 14015 Mead St. in Longmont.

According to the lottery, Miguel scratched off the “Life” symbol, winning $5,000 every week for 20 years. In total, Miguel won $5.2 million but opted to take the one-time pre-tax cash value of over $3 million.
