MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Mobile Police Department says there has been an increase in cases of people posing as federal agents and targeting businesses. Police said several businesses have been hit with the scam recently. According to authorities, the con artists pretend to be agents with various law enforcement agencies, but usually claim to be federal agents. They call workers, telling them to take money from the safe or cash registers and go buy gift cards in order to make a payment.
