Arizona Monsoon Forecast with Three Alerts for August 24, 2024; Also Tucson Ground Zero

Arizona Weather Force has issued three types of alerts for various parts of Arizona for August 24, 2024. The Severe Thunderstorm Watch, Thunderstorm Watch, and Weather Advisory.

Zones Issued For: Maricopa County – Pinal County – Gila County – Graham and Greenlee County – Cochise County – Santa Cruz County – Pima County – Flagstaff – Yavapai County – Apache County –

Discussion: Low pressure moving through the Western United States has actually brought frost to Northern Nevada. Rare for this time of year, it has not been seen in 20 years. This same southwest to northeast flow aloft between the low-pressure system and ridge to the east will be the driving storm motion force today. Orographic lifting over the Tucson area will bring numerous thunderstorm cells through, possibly even lasting for many hours in some spots. This will also bring storms through Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, and Apache County. These will be capable of damaging winds and large hail.

Storms across Yavapai County will form near or over the Bagdad zones, stretching northeast into the Seligman sections. Storms here will be capable of damaging downburst winds.
