Enhance your landscape with native seedlings from MDC’s state forest nursery

(KOAM) – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is offering native tree and shrub seedlings through its George O. White State Forest Nursery. These low-cost seedlings are ideal for reforestation, windbreaks, erosion control, and improving wildlife habitat and private property.

The nursery provides a range of one-year-old, bare-root seedlings including pine, bald cypress, cottonwood, black walnut, hickory, oak, pecan, and more. With sizes varying by species, MDC recommends ordering early to ensure the best selection.

“We grow millions of seedlings annually, but popular species can sell out quickly,” said Forest Nursery Supervisor Mike Fiaoni. “Even if a species is listed as ‘sold out,’ customers can still place orders, as cancellations may free up inventory.”

Seedlings are available in bundles of 10 or increments of 25, with prices ranging from 40 cents to $1.17 per seedling. Orders will include a shipping fee and a $9 handling charge, with a 15% discount available for those with a Conservation ID Number.
