Swimmer missing in ocean in Myrtle Beach. Police and Coast Guard searching waters

Rescue crews were searching the ocean Saturday evening for a missing swimmer.

At least two people began to drown in the waters off 12th Avenue South about 5:20 p.m., Myrtle Beach Police Lt. John Fullwood said.

Fullwood said one swimmer was rescued and the other was still missing.

The U.S. Coast Guard brought in a helicopter, he said. Lifeguards and Jet skis were also being used to find the swimmer.

Witnesses to the incident said on social media that three people were involved and two were rescued.
