Governor Dunleavy signs 3 bills into law at Alaska State Fair

PALMER, Alaska (KTUU) – Saturday, Gov. Mike Dunleavy made an appearance at the Alaska State Fair Colony Stage to sign three bills into law. Joined by Mat-Su state representatives George Rauscher and Donna Mears, Dunleavy took the stage late Saturday afternoon. HB 146 designates new regulations for fireworks. Dunleavy’s office says the bill updates restrictions that haven’t been changed in about 50 years, beginning with separating a former category of “salable” fireworks into “consumer” fireworks and “display” fireworks. The latter category will now require purchasers to have a pyrotechnics license, also a new creation under the bill, and mandates display fireworks only be used in fireworks shows put on for public display.
