On the evening of August 23, the authorities stopped a vehicle linked to a hit-and-run case that had occurred earlier that day. According to the Ceres Police Department’s Facebook post, 73-year-old Gilbert Taveres of Ceres was arrested and faces felony hit-and-run charges after the incident on the Pine Street overpass took a male victim’s life. The property damage ensued from the collision, matched thereafter with Taveres’ vehicle.
