Hit-and-run suspect accused of killing a 74-year-old man in Stanislaus County arrested

(FOX40.COM) — A man accused of fatally hitting a bicyclist with his Jeep Wrangler and fleeing the scene on Friday morning was arrested, according to the Ceres Police Department .

At around 11:10 a.m., CPD said it responded to a report of a hit-and-run on the Pine Street overpass. Officers said they arrived to the scene and found a bicyclist in critical condition. They provided him with first aid before he was transported a local hospital where he died.

Officials said a black Jeep Wrangler or similar vehicle driven by an “older” man was seen around the crash area. On Saturday morning, CPD pulled over a 73-year-old man in a Jeep and determined he was a suspect in the hit-and-run case. He was subsequently arrested.
