Boy Scouts of America host Baked Potato Bash with live music and food vendors

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Boy Scouts of America served up spuds at the annual Baked Potato Bash Saturday afternoon.

The event kicked off Aug. 24 at the Crusader Brewing Company in Bakersfield from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. People got to feast on spud samples from local restaurants providing their take on the “ultimate baked potato.” The winner will be featured at the Boy Scout Baked Potato Booth during the Kern County Fair.

“Today is our Baked Potato Bash,” said Randy Saunders, Scout Executive for the Southern Sierra Council. “This is our community event, fundraiser and just a good-ole time with food and fun.”

Organizers with the event say some companies like the exposure they get from these gatherings.

“It feels good because a lot of people want to build up their companies,” said Scout Lindsay Sanchez. “This is really good because this is going to be a good way to build them up and have them well known. It’s also really good food.”
