VIRIGNIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — For the first time in 10 years, The Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Champion was someone from Virginia Beach.
19-year-old Blayr Barton charged ahead of the international competitors in his home waters to win the 2024 Coastal Edge ECSC.
Barton is the third Virginia Beach surfer to win along with Legend Wes Laine and Michael Dunfy in 2014. The women’s pro winner was Alana Lopez, who originates from Florida, got her very first tour win.
