Electrical panel fire displaces two in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Two people were displaced by a fire in the Deep Creek area of Chesapeake Sunday afternoon.

Just after 1 p.m. crews were called to the 100 block of Hinton Avenue for the report of flames coming from a home’s HVAC unit and electrical panel box.

Upon arrival, they found light smoke and flames at the outside electrical panel box.

Crews deployed their hoselines to extinguish the fire and had it under control by 1:18 p.m.

No one was hurt and the Red Cross is assisting the two people with lodging.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental by the Chesapeake Fire Department.
