When choosing a place to call home, good leadership is crucial. WalletHub recently released its 2024 report on the Best- & Worst-Run Cities in America, ranking cities based on their operating efficiency.

Among North Carolina cities, Durham stands out, ranking 6th nationally. With a strong performance in both quality of services and budget management, Durham proves to be the most well-run city in the state.
Raleigh follows closely, ranking 11th overall, showcasing solid leadership in the state’s capital.
Greensboro also performed well, securing the 27th spot, a respectable position for a city often overlooked in such rankings. However, despite its size and significance, Charlotte ranked low at 113th. While its quality of services is relatively high, the city’s budget management leaves room for improvement.
