Security officers use pepper spray on Wichita students

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Several students at Sowers Alternative High School had to be checked after security officers used pepper spray on them Monday over the noon hour.

Wichita Police Department Captain Aaron Moses said police officers were sent to assist Wichita Public School staff with a fight at the school around 12:15 p.m.

Susan Arensman, Wichita Public Schools spokesperson, provided a little more information.

“There was a fight where security officers had to use pepper spray after repeated attempts to de-escalate the situation,” she said.
