Wasco State Prison inmate dies after alleged attack by 2 other inmates Saturday: CDCR

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Prison officials at Wasco State Prison are investigating the death of an inmate on Saturday as a homicide after he was allegedly attacked by two other inmates.

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officials identified the inmate who died as David Dominguez, 29. According to a release, Dominguez was seen being helped by other inmates in one of the prison’s dayrooms at around 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 24. Dominguez told staff that had suffered a seizure and fell. He was treated at the prison and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators at the prison reviewed video surveillance of the incident and saw two other inmates, identified as Jose Landeros, 27, and Michael S. Padilla, 37, enter Dominguez’s cell and began to fight.

No other details of the incident were released. The Kern County Coroner’s Office will determine a cause and manner of death.

The Kern County District Attorney’s Office and prison officials are investigating the homicide.
