Advocates push for California measures that would ban sale of plastic bags at grocery checkouts

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Advocates pushing for California legislation to ban plastic bags altogether from grocery store checkouts plan to gather Tuesday for a news conference. The rally will be at the southwest corner of the state Capitol’s west steps at 9 a.m. State lawmakers, representatives from the California Grocers Association, the Ocean Conservancy and Monterey Bay Aquarium, and the California Public Interest Research Group will attend.
