Who are Fayetteville State University’s top earners?

Fayetteville State University spends about $3.12 million to pay its 843 employees, data from the University of North Carolina Salary Database shows.

The median salary for the historically Black university in Fayetteville is $182,000, and the average salary is $158,874.

Positions include office and administrative jobs, deans and custodial staff, according to records obtained by The Fayetteville Observer.

Fayetteville State University’s highest-paid employees

The highest-paid FSU employee, at a salary of $314,443 per year, is Chancellor Darryl Allison, who’s been with the university for more than three years.

The second highest-paid employee, at $254,000, is Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Monica Leach, who’s been with the university for about three years.

Vice chancellors are also among the top-paid employees: Dr. Lillian Wanjagi, who’s been with the university for nearly two years and is vice chancellor of business and finance, makes $234,000; Wanda Jenkins, who’s been with the university for more than 30 years and is vice chancellor of legal, audit, risk and compliance, makes $220,011.
