Boca Raton-area elementary school ups security after man’s ‘offensive’ social media posts

School leaders at Whispering Pines Elementary in the Boca Raton area are increasing security on campus and reminding parents of safety measures following distress in the community about a local man’s social media posts.

Principal Barbara Riemer called the comments “deeply offensive to many in our community” in a message to parents, but did not name the person who posted the offensive comments or describe their contents.

Riemer said Monday, Aug. 26, that the person did not pose a specific threat to the school campus and that the person has been banned from the school campus by school police.

Still, parents have shared their concerns to the principal.

In response, Riemer has reminded parents of the security protocols at the school and notified them that there will be an increased police presence on campus.

“I want to reiterate my confidence in our campus safety protocols. Whispering Pines Elementary School has a designated School Police officer, a single point of entry, and a variety of other security measures in place to support the safety and security of the campus,” she wrote in a note to parents.
