KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Officials with the City of Kalamazoo are asking residents to stop opening fire hydrants for personal use after an uptick in this was reported. While soaring temperatures and high humidity may have you tempted to open a fire hydrant on your own, officials say opening and closing hydrants can be dangerous. Not doing so properly can also cause pipe breaks and impact water service to residents in the area.
