Shooting occurs near white water park in Colorado with bullet striking tent

Police responded to a shooting near the Poudre River White Water Park in Fort Collins on August 23 at about 8:30 p.m.

Once a report was received, Fort Collins police officers immediately responded to the incident, according to a press release . An adult male and female, who were staying in a motorhome in the parking lot, had been involved in an argument. The woman had left the motorhome with a firearm and fired multiple rounds at the man while chasing him. The man was unharmed and the woman was taken into custody and booked into the Larimer County Detention Center on charges of attempted murder, animal cruelty, and domestic violence.

Detectives found that one tent had been hit by a round fired from the gun. The tent was occupied but nobody was injured. Detectives have asked area residents and business owners to report any potential damage to police if they find any.

“The quick response and apprehension of this suspect certainly helped prevent injuries and further damage from this reckless firing of rounds,” said Lieutenant Adam Ruehlen who oversees the Fort Collins Police Criminal Impact Unit in the release. “These types of actions will not be tolerated in, or by our community.”
