Arkansas State Police issues more than 200 tickets within 8 hours in Northwest Arkansas

ARKANSAS (KNWA/KFTA) — Arkansas State Police were in high gear on Aug. 23 when they conducted an eight-hour operation across Northwest Arkansas.

Troopers were on a mission to “significantly reduce the number of impaired and reckless drivers posing a danger to themselves and others,” according to a news release. Troopers worked from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The night concluded with:

  • 5 arrest for Driving While Intoxicated
  • 39 criminal arrests, 33 arrests were made of individuals with outstanding warrants
  • 47 speeding tickets
  • 29 hazardous traffic violation tickets
  • 114 non-hazardous traffic tickets
  • 4 not wearing seat belts tickets
  • 3 not correctly restraining children tickets

State troopers had two pursuits, and one person was arrested for possessing illegal narcotics.

This operation is part of the upcoming Labor Day weekend initiative to stop drunk driving. Police across the state will be taking part in the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” from now until Sept. 2.
