Driver, 19, admits to killing Syracuse bicyclist while street racing but avoids jail for now

Syracuse, N.Y. – A 19-year-old man was promised a sentence of probation after admitting Tuesday to hitting and killing a bicyclist while racing another car in Syracuse. Joshua Shultes admitted to running a red light in his 2022 Nissan Altima at the intersection of Erie Boulevard East onto Catherine Street on April 15 shortly after midnight.
