After shark bit off woman’s calf at South Padre Island, she leaves South Texas hospital for home

After about seven weeks in the hospital recovering from her injuries, a woman a shark bit at South Padre Island has returned home to North Texas. On the Fourth of July, Tabatha Sullivent was celebrating her daughter’s birthday and a friend’s engagement with a visit to South Padre Island, according to a GoFundMe created for her medical costs. While swimming in the water, a shark attacked and bit off her left calf. A single shark attacked four people that day at South Padre Island, including Sullivent, officials said.
