Former Sooners great Gabe Ikard previews the upcoming season

Oklahoma and Temple are prepared to commence their 2024 college football seasons Friday night in Norman!

Gabe Ikard was a three time All-Big 12 center for Oklahoma. He also won the prestigious Wuerffel Trophy for his excellence in the classroom and leadership efforts with the Haiti Earthquake Relief mission and Oklahoma City tornado cleanup and recovery.

I had a chance to catch up with Gabe ahead of the Sooners home opener.

Craig: What’s your overall level of excitement with the regular season rapidly approaching?

Gabe: There’s no doubt OU’s 2024 schedule is the most challenging schedule in 20+ years. However, I believe OU has the most talented team they’ve had in several years. From a size and length perspective, this is the best OU has looked in a while, especially on defense. There’s some uncertainty on offense with an inexperienced QB and new offensive line, but I expect the defense to be the best defense OU has had in over a decade. If the defense can reach its full potential, then OU should have a chance to win every game it plays.
