Sending off youngsters to summer camp.
A private funeral service is scheduled Sunday for Michael Schulman of Dix Hills. He was the stepfather to Scott Beigel, a teacher who was one of 17 people killed by a gunman who attacked their school in Parkland, Fla., in 2018. Schulman and his wife, Linda Beigel Schulman, were active in gun safety efforts in recent years, and
They raised funds to send kids to summer camps; in July, they gathered to send off 50 youngsters to a camp. The family said that the funeral service would be held Sunday at Temple Beth El of Boca Raton. In lieu of Shiva or gifts, and in accordance with Michael’s wishes, friends are asked to consider making a donation to the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund in his honor.
“ Michael believed strongly in the mission of the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund, and in keeping with his wishes, the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund Golf Classic will continue as planned on Thursday, September 5th,” the family said. “We will be honoring both Scott and Michael at the event, and registrations are still available.”
