Woman pleads no contest to Lamont hammer attack

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A woman accused of breaking into a Lamont home and hitting a woman with a hammer has pleaded no contest to assault and drug charges.

Adelina Plata, who also goes by Maricruz Luna, faces a year in jail and three years’ probation, according to District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Daniela Gonzaga.

Claim seeks more than $5M for fatal crash involving BPD

Plata, 36, on Tuesday pleaded no contest to assault with a deadly weapon and drug possession, records show.

Other charges — including attempted murder and burglary — were dismissed under the plea agreement. Sentencing is scheduled Sept. 25.

On the morning of Aug. 14, Plata used a hammer to shatter the sliding glass doors of a house in Lamont, according to court documents. She entered and confronted a woman inside, threatening to kill her if she didn’t hand over her children, the reports said.

There were six children in the home.
