Byrd Theatre receives $20,000 donation to replace aging seats

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Byrd Theatre in Richmond’s Carytown neighborhood has received a $20,000 donation towards its effort to replace its aging seats.

According to the Byrd Theatre Foundation, which owns and operates the historic theatre, the donation came from Jeff Trice, the Principal of the Insurance Doctor. The foundation says that, after nearly 100 years and “countless film screenings and events,” the theatre’s seats now “require urgent attention.”

The foundation has been working to replace the theatre’s narrow seats with new, wider ones since 2017, as well as adding two ADA-accessible platforms. The work is expected to be completed in early 2025.
