(WJW) – A bald eagle in Missouri was rescued after witnesses reported that it might be injured, but it turns out the large bird was just “too fat to fly.”
In a Facebook post, officials at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield explain the eagle captured near the park’s boundary was “engorged with raccoon — in other words, too fat to fly.”

Officials shared pictures of the bird as well as x-rays and said, “The x-rays, provided by Dickerson Park Zoo, show the outline of what we suspect is raccoon roadkill.”
The eagle was rehabilitated and then released back into the park. We can only assume it’s feeling much better!
