Tri-County leaders look to boost EV infrastructure access in Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Community leaders are looking to cut the costs of fueling and charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in the city of Charleston. The Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester Council of Governments is working on a grant application which would make it cheaper to install Level 2 and DC Fast Charger stations. Both are preferred for public settings because a Level 2 station can add 150 miles to an EV’s range in 4 to 8 hours, while a fast charger can add the same mileage within 15 to 20 minutes.
