More rounds of rain could cause flooding

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Southeast Louisiana through tonight with rounds of heavy rain in the forecast.

“Showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day,” WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone forecasts. “A few bands of heavy rain could sit over the same area leading to flooding.”

He says we expect to see more of the same tomorrow with an 80% rain chance both days and a 70% shot at showers on Sunday.

“This wet pattern continues into the weekend with more rounds of tropical showers”

He says it is all coming from a disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico.  It is not expected to develop into a tropical storm or hurricane, just a rain maker.

Malone expects less rain for Labor Day, but still some stormy weather.

“By Monday this pattern shifts and the chance for rain decreases into next week. However, we’ll still see a few storms each day.”
