North Charleston officer recognized for saving elderly woman from flooded road

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The North Charleston Police Department honored one of their officers who helped save an elderly woman from a flooded roadway.

Ptl. Louis Pinnacle-Brown had finished an off-duty detail when he heard multiple calls for a disturbance at the Park Circle playground in early July.

Several units were unable to get there because of flooding, the department said.

While on his way, Officer Pinnacle-Brown saw a vehicle that was caught in the flooding at the intersection of East Montague Avenue and Piedmont Avenue.

Police said an elderly driver was inside the vehicle.

“Officer Pinnacle-Brown carried her from the vehicle and out of the flooding,” the agency said. He ensured the woman was not injured.

Ptl. Pinnacle-Brown received a Certificate of Recognition from the department in July.
