Charleston Animal Society has 50% off adoption fees during Clear the Shelters

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – News 2 is working to find forever homes for all local dogs and cats during our annual Clear the Shelters initiative.

The Charleston Animal Society is one of the area’s largest and oldest animal shelters. They are in constant need to find forever homes for the many dogs, cats, and other animals awaiting a human companion.

“We are 150 years old. We have been saving lives for all that time. Our mission is to alleviate cruelty and to save lives, and that’s what we do every single day,” said Kay Hyman.

Dozens of animals are awaiting adoption — it’s one of the reasons why Clear the Shelters is such an important program. By finding forever homes for current animals, the shelter can make room to save others.

Charleston Animal Society is offering 50% off the adoption fee on all dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies during the Clear the Shelters. Additionally, they waived fees on all adult dogs, aged five years and over, on Friday, August 30.

You can browse current animals on their website, or stop by News 2’s Pet Fest to see animals in person.
