New details emerge on deadly Oildale shooting

OILDALE, Calif. (KGET) — A Thursday afternoon tragedy in an Oildale neighborhood left one person dead, another person injured and the killer or killers on the loose.

There are still many unanswered questions about this case, but neighbors on the ground told 17 News it’s the story of a victim being in the wrong place at the wrong time and a confrontation between two parties turning deadly.

“[It was] rather traumatic, rather loud, rather quick,” said witness and neighbor Chance Goble. “I mean it spanned, maybe the whole incident spanned maybe 30 seconds to a minute.”

Around 4:15 Thursday afternoon, sheriff’s deputies were called to a shooting in the 2700 block of Olympic Drive in Oildale. That’s near North Chester Avenue and China Grade Loop.
