Kentucky murder suspect in custody after tense standoff in Mississippi

U.S. Marshals apprehended a man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in Kentucky after a tense standoff in Coffeeville on Saturday.

Authorities reported that 34-year-old Desmond Shaw was taken into custody after barricading himself inside a home on Wayne Drive for about an hour. Law enforcement surrounded the residence, and Shaw eventually surrendered without incident.

Shaw faces multiple charges, including murder, first-degree domestic assault, first-degree criminal mischief, and theft by unlawful taking involving a firearm. These charges stem from a July 22 shooting in Jefferson County, Kentucky, where a verbal altercation between occupants of two parked vehicles escalated into violence.

During the incident, a man was shot in the head and later died, while two women, also shot, are currently recovering from their injuries.
