BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — The City of Birmingham’s offices, outside of emergency services, will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day.
According to the city, households normally receiving garbage pickup on Mondays will obtain that service Tuesday. Residents who are typically scheduled for garbage pickup Tuesdays will wait until Wednesday. All other days this week will run as usual.

There is no curbside recycling pickup in the first week of September. Recycling pickup will occur on Sept. 11 and 18. In October, recycling pickup will occur on the first and third Wednesdays of the month.
