3 tropical waves being monitored in the Atlantic with potential for further development: NHC

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The National Hurricane Center is keeping an eye on three tropical waves in the Atlantic.

In a Monday morning update, two of the systems are showing a medium chance of development over the next seven days.

Tropical wave has ‘medium chance’ of development this week, NHC says

In the central Atlantic, a disturbance is showing a 40% chance for development over the next few days as it continues to move westward. The NHC said the system could form into a tropical depression sometime this week.

Sitting in the eastern Atlantic is a tropical wave that is producing a large area of rainfall and storms. Over the next seven days, this system is favorable for development as it continues across the Atlantic.

“One tropical wave is going to enter into the Caribbean— could see some signs of development as we head into the end of the week, and then next week it could be moving into the Gulf of Mexico,” Max Defender 8 Meteorologist Leigh Spann said.

A system near the coast of Texas could have potential for slow development if it remains offshore, but further development moving into Tuesday is not expected.
