Free movie screening at the Byrd Theatre, ‘A Case For Love’

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — New Hanover Presbyterian Church and film director, Brian Ide, will present a free pre-release viewing of his new film, “A Case for Love” at the Byrd Theatre this month.

“A Case For Love” will be pre-screened on Monday, Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Byrd Theatre, located at 2908 W. Cary Street.

According to New Hanover Presbyterian Church, the film is inspired by teachings from the current Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church, Bishop Michael Curry, who is the first and only African American to serve in that role.

Bishop Curry is most known for the delivery of his 14-minute sermon at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, entitled “ The Power of Love .” The sermon and majority of his teachings focus on the power of unselfish love, the act of doing for others without expecting anything in return.

“What can I do to help? At the end of the day, all I really know how to do well is make movies. Marrying the glaring need with my skills, I made this documentary,” Ide said. “Bishop Michael Curry inspired the film’s focus as he offers a solution to what ails us: Love, specifically, Unselfish Love. When love is the way, we actually treat each other, well, like we are actually family. This film presents what I observed while traveling across the U.S. in search of the answer to that question. Viewers can decide for themselves and if their answer is “yes”, be inspired to live more selflessly and become part of the solution.”
