Virginia Zoo needs help selecting ape-solutely perfect name for newest member

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The Virginia Zoo in Norfolk is asking for the public’s help in naming their newest member, a baby Bornean orangutan!

The critically-endangered orangutan was born on June 29 to her parents Dara and Solaris and has already spent a month in the exhibit, officials at the zoo stated.

By submitting a donation of $5 or more at the link here , participants will be able to submit a name. All donations will go towards the zoo’s Keeper Fund, which works to provide animals with enrichment toys and other items.

Name submissions will be accepted until Sept. 19, where they will then be given to Asia: Trail of the Tiger keepers who will choose their top three favorite names. The mother, Dara, will select the name of her baby on Sept. 21 at 9:45 a.m.
