COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to encourage safety as the Labor Day Weekend continues. Since the counting period began on August 30 at 6 p.m., at last checked, there have been 44 crashes with six fatalities statewide. Of those 44 crashes, eight occurred in Mid-Missouri and of those crashed five were serious and two were deadly.
