ANTWERP TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Deputies say charges could be sought against one driver after he didn’t yield to another car, causing both vehicles to swerve and one to hit a house in Antwerp Township.
It happened around 11:45 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of County Road 364/58th Avenue and County Road 657, according to a release from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.
A 25-year-old Paw Paw man was heading west on County Road 364 in a Chevrolet Silverado, approaching the stop sign at the intersection, the release says.
The driver told deputies he stopped but then crossed County Road 657 without yielding to a Lincoln MKX that was heading north, according to the sheriff’s office.
Both vehicles swerved to avoid crashing into each other, according to the office.
Deputies say the Lincoln, driven by a 70-year-old Marcellus man, ran off the road through a yard, hitting a house and a garage. Meanwhile, the Silverado ran off the road and hit an electrical pole.
The sheriff’s office says no one was injured, but the buildings were heavily damaged.
