Police investigating body found in North Charleston pond after vehicle submersion

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A body was discovered in a pond in North Charleston during a routine business check by the North Charleston Police Department early Sunday morning.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Faber Place Drive, officers were patrolling the area when they noticed a vehicle submerged in a pond behind a building. As they approached, they observed a body floating in the water. The officers immediately checked for signs of life but found none.

With assistance from the North Charleston Fire Department, officers entered the pond to search the vehicle for any additional occupants. No one else was found.

According to police, initial findings indicate that the vehicle struck a curb before ending up in the water.

The North Charleston Police Department’s Traffic Unit, along with the Charleston County Coroner’s Office, are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
